COURTANDNATYOGA

Two unlikely but very dear friends, Courtney Allen & Natalie Lewis, with something in common that connects all of us reading this - YOGA. It doesn't matter what the name over the door is, where you practice how many poses you can do. What matters is that we have all found some kind of connection, whether with one another or simply within ourselves through the subtle power of yoga.

ABOUT US

You will learn more about each of us through our week together in Nicaragua undoubtedly!

To start off, Courtney was born and raised in a suburb of Edmonton, Alberta called Sherwood Park. Not that she has stayed there! She has spent the last number of years travelling to work and study throughout North America. She has a deep background and love affair with dance and was very competitive with it, internationally through to adulthood. Her love of movement and fitness endured where when she found yoga - fast forward to 2013, it was a very natural fit to say the least! Courtney has taught class sizes ranging from private 1:1s to several dozens and easily flexes to the energy and ability she is working with. In addition to possessing a degree in communications, Courtney has greater than a thousand hours of training in yoga alone under her belt which is substantial! Some areas of study for her have been Moksha/Modo, vinyasa, Yin, Advanced yoga, Core Power Yoga & Sculpt Barre. She is versed in all styles but leans in preference to a more active style of class - most days anyways ;) Courtney uses what one of our teachers would speak of as 'upaya' or 'skillful/expedient means' in her teaching. Her class is always a treat.

Natalie also from Alberta, is similar in style, adopting 'upaya' in her approach however there is a softness to her. Maybe it's her voice? Maybe it's the mother in her? There is a sneaky way she manages to get you to find your edge without that edge feeling sharp - sometimes you don't even realise you're being brought there. Natalie has also been working to stay on an inspired path, exposing and continuing yoga education as it feels authentic. She is trained in Moksha/Modo, Vinyasa, Yin and meditation. Music is an important part of her classes.

You will grow to know and love both of these strong, skilled teachers.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Nicaraguan Yoga Retreat

12-18 November 2017

We will join the Eco Luxury experts we have teamed up with at Aqua Nicaragua on the Emerald Coast in Redonda Bay in Nicaragua for a week of fun, sun, yoga, food so good words to truly do it justice escape me as I write.

WHEN & WHERE

Our retreat will kick off with a sunset vinyasa class on 12Nov17 and extend through noon on 18Nov17. Choose from single through triple occupancy in either a Studio Treehouse or Luxury Treehouse. (Triples must choose Luxury due to size/beds). Most Luxury Treehouses have their famous Japanese soaking tubs outdoors that you see pictured in these and the booking photos - to die for. We are situated on a private beach which is gated/secured at night.

EATING

The food is local, fresh and healthy - farm to table in concept right down to the coffee beans! We will be fed three times a day. Vegetarians, we have you covered. Omnivores, you're good to go too! Allergies or dietary restrictions are no problem, just let us know in advance please.

HOW TO GET THERE

Flights are not included in the retreat cost. We will however make sure you make it from Managua to Aqua - we want you there with us! The journey from Managua airport is 2.5 hours, we will provide one transfer on the 11th and another on the 12th as well as back to the airport after lunch on 18Nov17. Should you wish for a private transfer, please advise and we can facilitate this for you at a cost.

ACTIVITIES

Mid-week we will have a guided tour to pie de Gigante and if enough of us are interested, we can arrange an excursion to a surf spot for a lesson (maybe two!). Yoga will be at least twice daily, mornings and sunset with opportunities to workshop fundamentals. Aqua Nicaragua has generously offered a discount of 10% at their gorgeous spa to extend your wellness experience during your stay. We will be nestled into the jungle right on the seaside with access to kayaks, snorkel gear and SUP equipment.

This is not exhaustive but skims what we can expect to see and do before we close the week with an incredible beach bonfire together sealing the memories we've cultivated at last.

Did you know that 10-60 minutes of yoga a day can significantly reduce your risk of giving a shit?
